Vocational Learning

Vocational leaning is an option for people who wish to pursue a career which is practical or manual in it’s nature, such as roofing or other construction work. Vocational learning traditionally focused on teaching skills useful to a specific trade such as roofing will teach you all the practical skills you need, plus background knowledge on materials such as Brazilian slate and tiles. Vocational leaning through focusing on one specific area of expertise is typically exemplified by traditional apprenticeships, a practice which is no where near as common as it once was.

Modern vocational learning tends to focus on imparting skills which would be of general use in a number of professions, giving people a greater choice of how to use their newly found skills.

There are a number of vocational learning courses operated by numerous educational institutes enabling people who undertake them to learn skills that will be valuable to their future profession. Many companies also offer vocational learning courses to their current or new employees as a form of training for a specific role within the company.

More and more people are now undertaking some form of vocational education, particularly as the skills required by many professions have become more specialised. For people who are interested in vocational education then there are a number of publically funded courses run through colleges and universities, which they can enrol for. There are also a number of other privately run vocational education courses, such as the kind run internally by some companies, which may also be of use for furthering an individuals career.
